This type of flooring is not flexible like vinyl (linoleum), but is still rigid. It is like a cross between ceramic tile and vinyl. This product is glued to the subfloor with an adhesive, and can be grouted to look like a ceramic floor, or the tiles can be put directly next to each other, with no grouting. It is important that the adhesive is applied properly, meaning the right trowel size, and the right "open" time - as stated by the manufacturer.
WATCH OUT FOR THIS!
Congoleum (who makes the Duraceramic) has a "lifetime" no fade warranty. However, buried in the warranty information is the following statement under what is excluded, "...■ Problems due to excessive temperatures or fading from sunlight."
So, I'm not sure what kind of fading IS covered, but 90% of fading in flooring that I've seen is from SUNLIGHT. Take this into consideration if looking at installing this type of floor. Big windows facing south? Lots of natural (sun) light exposure? Probably should consider another floorcovering. Just a disclaimer - lots of sunlight can be hard on ANY kind of flooring, just don't buy this particular flooring thinking you are warranted against it.
